Wow! It has been one busy Holiday Season and I have finally found enough time to load my own bead sprite portfolio on here as well as check over the new site. :) I can see a lot has happened since the new site's been up (I just got done browsing about :P) and can't wait to return to all the interesting and riveting conversations that go on here. On a side note, I'm glad to read that Ein is ok and how much everyone gave in support for him. :) Just makes me proud to be part of a forum that cares that much. <3 Alright, back to the Spriting grindstone!

Welcome back!!

Thank you! He's a mix of Perler, Hama, and Photopearls, and by god the black in Photopearls IS lighter then perler black, noticeably so when melted! :) One of my close friends LOVES Kefka and stole the little one I made into a magnet months ago from my fridge, so I thought it would be a great idea to make him the Mid-sized one for Christmas. Almost all my presents were Bead gifts this year.... :embarrassed: kinda couldn't afford what I couldn't make and so forth. Oh well, I took lots of pictures of my new stuff and will have it up soon! ^.^ And yes,...........EggShell Wars has awaken from its slumber...

ok, so here is some more Christmas present Bead Art I did. My sister was interested in having one of her own, and since she's not really into video games AND I was amazed by xstatic's bridal bead art, I did a picture version of my sister. :)

I think that program is $35 or it comes with their $80 package. If you are good enough, you could just hand pixel it with perler/hama colors :grinbig:

I've come to the conclusion that Photopearl beads are way better suited for that sort of thing, hand pixeled or not, since their colors are more naturally toned, instead of bright primary, secondary, etc, colors. And in all honestly, you probably wont get those results hand pixeling. I haven't tried specifically to hand pixel in that style, although I'm sure it's possible, but the difference between the color choices and the placement of colors (if you're simply eyeing it) will be drastically different. Still, I prefer hand pixeling, just to put my own style into the piece - but that does look damn good! After most pieces I've pixeled, I've run it through a palette filter (much like the program does) to see the difference, just for the fun of it...I have yet to like the auto-results better than my own

Yes, there is a Photopearls program, but I'm honestly not that impressed by it. It does help with skin tones, but for all highlights and such, it seems to want to make everything so dark. For my picture I did of my sister, I originally took the image into the Photopearls program, adjusted it to see what it generated for me, then took that image into http://www.edsfamily.com/projects/perlerpal/ adjusted it more there with a custom pallete to see what it generated for me, and THEN took that image back into GIMP and hand selected and replaced colors with even more things I thought were better appealing to the eye. It was a long drawn out process, but I loved the results, especially since I customized it so much rather then simply putting a picture in and having something generated straight back at me. Part of the fun of beading is being able to do things your way, with your own special touch, rather then what some pre-set blueprints tell you. :)

man... I don't go through many hoops as all! I just reduce the colors to 256, reduce the size of the image, and that's pretty much it. ...I eyeball it. Like they said, the results via program just don't do a piece justice when doing photo-realism.

Yah, I do way to many steps sometimes, but I know that if I were to have done it just straight by hand, it would have ended up looking very cartoony. (That one happened in "take one" of "The Sister Project." She didn't like it to much.:( ) Damn you animator hands! Why must you make everyone a cartoon! Why! WHHHYYYY!!!

Did however work for the "Liz-Li" project though...

Another Pyramid Head joins the scene!!! *epic horror music engage* So, had a friend who loved my giant Pyramid Head on my wall but did not like how big it was, he was much more interest in having something magnet sized he could put on his fridge. "Can you make it happen?" he asks, "Sure" I say! It took quite a bit of scouting about the "interwebs," but I found this sprite on some random "host a pet" site. Still not quite as cool as my Biggin', it was good enough and fulfilled all his requirements. :)

One of my few remaining Christmas/Birthday (Why is there always gift giving holidays at the same time!!!) presents left to finish up, and it's finally done. Thank God. This my interpretation of AbyssWolf's custom Sora that he did. (<3AbyssWolf<3!!!) I made this for my brother for his 17th birthday and he better like it or I'll kill him!!!!! :P I know he'll love it. Kinko's kept jerking me around about the pixeled background asking, "Is it suppose to be like that?" and "Yes, YES IT IS!!!" Second time they've done that to me. Blah. Someday I'll make the Roxas one to put up along side it so the off-canter heart in the background will make a bit more sense when it lines up with the other picture. My bro's lucky I love him so much. :P

Just for those who are curious, this piece is 24X36 and right now Hobby Lobby has a great deal on 50% off glass top frames. Saved my butt on this huge thing.
